Sherry Ladig is a musician and composer in Minnesota’s Twin Cities of Saint Paul and Minneapolis. A frequent performer of many styles of folk music including Traditional Irish (Dunquin), Scottish dance and concert performance (Dalwhinnie), mid-to-late 19th century American (The New Pearl Buttons), and Elite Rabble (music from the Georgian and Regency periods, including English Country Dance music and British naval music). Sherry performs Celtic and 19th-century historic music regularly in the Twin Cities. Dunquin, Dalwhinnie, and all Sherry’s bands are available for private or public events all around the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Contact Sherry to arrange a gig!

Also an active composer, Sherry is the composer-in-residence for the Minnesota Mandolin Orchestra and composes a wide range of works for all types of instrumental and choral ensembles. Sherry is the recipient of Irish Arts Minnesota’s Honors Award, bestowed upon one who has significantly contributed to the vibrancy and vigor of Irish cultural life in Minnesota. She received the award in 2024 for her original compositions and musical collaborations with traditional Irish musicians.

    Scottish Island Concert 13th Annual

    Time: 7:30 pm

    The island is calling! Join Dunquin, special music guests Lisa Soltermann and Jim Moss, and author Audrey McClellan as we once more conjure up the beautiful little island of Eilean Dubh on the first Friday in February. Listen to the very best of Scottish music and tales and partake in the fabulous Scottish Tea at the interval. We'll have tunes and treats galore, from Scotland, America; Cape Breton and the Baroque era.All this is in beautiful Scottish kirk hall. Doors open at 7 pm; concert at 7:30. $15 admission at the door includes the complimentary tea. See you on the island!

    Scottish Ramble at Landmark Center

    Time: 11:00 am

    Join Thistledown, The RSCDS dancers, Fligmagearie and a host of great Scottish entertainment at the annual Scottish Ramble February 15 at Landmark Center. Event goes from 11 am until 5 pm and asks for a modest admission to enjoy the music, dancing, food and merchandise of Scotland. Nothing's cooler than kilts in February! Thistledown plays from 1-2:30 pm for the variety show of songs, tunes and dance accompaniment. Lots of great entertainment; see website below for all details.

    Dunquin at Trotter's Cafe

    Time: 6:00 pm

    Come join Dunquin for a St Pat's Day warmup (10 days early) as we play music for your dinner hour at Trotter's! We're doing our usual raising money for the Merriam Park Food Shelf; all tips that night go to the food shelf, AND Trotter's contributes to the tip jar. Eat well, enjoy local music, AND do good! Music goes from 6-8 pm. The food and the tunes are fresh, tasty, and locally produced; see you there!

    St Patrick's Day Party

    Time: 12:00 pm

    Join Thistledown as we play after mass in St Olaf Catholic Church's Social Hall! Green lemonade, corned beef sandwiches and cornier Irish songs; all welcome. Free, but donation requested to defray expenses. This is the only gig of the year when we play the Unicorn Song if requested, but the crowd loves it (for the last twenty years).

    IMDA Annual St Patrick's Day Celebration

    Time: 3:15 pm

    Join the Irish Music and Dance Association's annual post-parade hooley in the Landmark Center, bringing you dozens of Irish music bands and dancers, workshops and the tearoom. This is one of the biggest (and family-friendly) irish events all year, so come on down! Dunquin plays from 3:15-4 p.m. in the tearoom, but catch the other marvelous musical groups as well, throughout the building.

    Tartan Day Ceilidh with Dalwhinnie

    Time: 5:00 pm

    The Scottish Highland Fair and Games presents an all-evening ceilidh at the Celtic Junction, commencing with a social hour at 5 and going all night (see all the details below on their website). Dalwhinnie (Don, Rosa and Sherry) will provide music for the dancing, probably commencing around 7:30 or 8, but come for the whole night of entertainment! Lots of fun for the money (modest admission price).

    Final Days: The Conclusion of the Civil War

    Time: 10:40 am

    Join the Buttons as we present music and readings of the last days of the American Civil War, with emphasis on Minnesotans' experience in the war. It's part of Pilgrim House UU Fellowship's Sunday Series. The Civil War sesquicentennial observances are concluding throughout April, so this will be one of our final wrap-ups of the last four years of presentations. Service at 10:15 am, program starts at 10:40 and runs for 45 minutes. Free, but goodwill donations accepted.
