Sherry Ladig is a musician and composer in Minnesota’s Twin Cities of Saint Paul and Minneapolis. A frequent performer of many styles of folk music including Traditional Irish (Dunquin), Scottish dance and concert performance (Dalwhinnie), mid-to-late 19th century American (The New Pearl Buttons), and Elite Rabble (music from the Georgian and Regency periods, including English Country Dance music and British naval music). Sherry performs Celtic and 19th-century historic music regularly in the Twin Cities. Dunquin, Dalwhinnie, and all Sherry’s bands are available for private or public events all around the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Contact Sherry to arrange a gig!

Also an active composer, Sherry is the composer-in-residence for the Minnesota Mandolin Orchestra and composes a wide range of works for all types of instrumental and choral ensembles. Sherry is the recipient of Irish Arts Minnesota’s Honors Award, bestowed upon one who has significantly contributed to the vibrancy and vigor of Irish cultural life in Minnesota. She received the award in 2024 for her original compositions and musical collaborations with traditional Irish musicians.

    Dunquin at Alden Square's National Night Out Potluck

    Time: 6:00 pm

    Join Dunquin at the Alden Square Neighbors' annual Potluck in the Park, this year on National Night Out! Free, but bring something for the potluck. All are welcome: neighbors (and that's a big tent category), friends, kids, dogs, everyone!Potluck starts around 6 p.m. and Irish traditional music commences from 7-8 p.m. This is always one of our favorite gigs! A good time will be had by all.

    Three bands at the MN Irish Fair

    Time: 12:00 pm

    Catch Sherry and Don wearing THREE hats at the Irish Fair this year! (See website below for a full listing of events for all three days: we are only there Saturday). Don, Sherry, and John Wenstrom present a 2 p.m. workshop "Paddy's Lamentation: The Irish Immigrant's Music in the Civil War" in the Workshop Tent.(Before that, catch us for a tea break: Sherry and Don play trad Irish in the Trisceal Tearoom at noon). Finally, Sherry plays piano in Paddy O'Brien's big ceili band, O'Rourke's Feast, on the Celebration Stage at 4 p.m. Whew! It'll be busy and fun. Come on down and check out this FREE, 2 1/2 day celebration of All Things Irish.

    Franciscan BBQ Celebration

    The Franciscan Brothers of Peace and Dunquin invite you to a good old-fashioned neighborhood barbecue! It's free (or by donation, if you are inclined).     Historic LeDuc Estate Civil War Weekend

    Time: 11:00 am

    The New Pearl Buttons bring their special Civil War offering of songs and tunes---the Greatest Hits of the Sixties (1860s, that is) to the lawn of the LeDuc House on Sunday, September 9th. We are there SUNDAY ONLY, for two shows, 11 a.m. and about 1:15 p.m., on the lawn near the icehouse. We will be joined by Pat and Dave from the B is for Battle Cry book at the later show! (This is a two-day event; for more information, see the link below). Demonstrations, military life, social customs, cooking, fashion, and more in and around this beautiful 1860s house. General admission at the gate gives you entry to all events.

    Northwest Company Fur Post's Fall Gathering

    Join Sherry and Don as they play the Greatest Hits of 1805 at the Post's Festival of the Voyageur, a.k.a. the annual Fall Gathering! Since the late 1790s, the Fur Post was the place where people of all cultures met a few times each year to trade fur pelts and other goods,then feast,dance, play music and have a right good time together! We'll play a couple of shows on Saturday ONLY (it goes into Sunday, too) and there will be demonstrations of skills and crafts, native peoples' sports (lacrosse!),voyageur encampment, and artisans and traders selling their goods. Admission at the gate gets you into all the exhibits.Family friendly; fun and educational for all.
